Abstract

The study examined the effect of internal recruitment on performance of non-governmental organizations in Benue State. The study specifically examined the effect of promotion, transfer and employee referral on the performance of NGOs in Benue State. The study adopted a survey research design and data was collected using a structured questionnaire. The population of the study included 433) staff of seven selected NGOs in Benue State and a census sampling technique was utilized. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics and regression with the aid of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS version 25). Findings of the study revealed that there is positive and significant effect of promotion, transfer and employee referral on the performance NGOs in Benue State. The study concluded that internal recruitment is important in not only improving the skills of employees but overall organizational performance. The study recommended amongst others that management of NGOs in Benue State should always promote deserving employees to encourage them to put their best efforts in carrying out their responsibilities which will improve organizational performance.
