Abstract

The study assessed the ergonomic risk factors in the practical utilization of Electrical Installation and Maintenance Work facilities in Technical Colleges in Rivers State. Two objectives, two research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted descriptive Survey design. The study was carried out in Technical Colleges in Rivers State. The population for the study comprises of 58 Electrical teachers and 12 instructors in technical colleges in Rivers State. A Structured questionnaire was used as instruments for data collection. Cronbach Alpha method was used for the reliability of the instrument which yielded a coefficient of .75. Mean and standard deviation were used to analyze the data for answering research questions while t- test was used to test the hypotheses of no significant difference at 0.05 level of significant. The study found out that: there is need to observe ergonomic risk factors in the practical utilization of domestic installation and maintenance work facilities, observing ergonomic risk factors in the practical utilization of industrial installation and maintenance work facilities is needed for effective production in electrical industries, It recommended that, the ergonomic risk factors identified should be observed in utilizing domestic installation and maintenance work facilities in technical colleges in Rivers State, the regulatory bodies of technical colleges should enforce the utilization of ergonomic risk factors identified in this study for effective use of industrial installation and maintenance work facilities in technical colleges in Rivers State.
