Abstract
ABSTRACT
A digital workplace is vital for employees in the 21st century to connect, communicate, collaborate, and access information regardless of time and location. Creating a digital workplace involves implementing and integrating digital tools and technologies that allow for flexibility, efficiency, and collaborative work. Suitably, the metaverse is a newly developed technological tool that enables a shared virtual space where HR can interact with a computer-generated employee in a three-dimensional (3D) world: height, width, and depth, through various devices such as computers, virtual reality (VR) headsets, and mobile devices. The HR metaverse can provide seamless processes, virtual team collaboration, and work efficiency through various functions such as HR avatars, virtual HR onboarding, virtual meetings and collaboration, virtual employee training and development, and virtual events for employees. Therefore, it was recommended that organizations should explore the use of the HR metaverse and invest in it; develop employees' digital skills and competencies to fully leverage the potential of digital technologies for collaboration, innovation, and productivity; design, redesign, or shape the workplace to support every form of interaction between employees, employee and manager, and between organizations; and adopt the virtual HR onboarding strategy to mitigate and eliminate the loss of new hires.
