Abstract
The proliferation of internet in Nigeria has indeed come with unintended consequence, as a haven for criminals. Cybercrime has remained a challenging issue despite increasing awareness and attention to addressing the menace in Nigeria and across the globe. This paper attempts to provide an overview of Cybercrime prognosis and make suggestion towards the possible ways for its reduction. The objectives of the study were to; determine if cybercrime aids the black-mailing of people or organization through digital data, enhance transaction-based crime, influence government data alteration and enhance terrorism. The study design is survey, and 500 participants drawn from a population of 5000 participants in Bayelsa State Nigeria, was considered. Structured questionnaire used was validated with a reliability result of 0.68. The result were presented in tables. The study revealed that cybercrime had enhanced criminality.
