Abstract
The study investigated psychosocial variables as predictors of marital adjustment among married teachers in Rivers State, Nigeria. Correlational Research Design was utilized in the study. The estimated population of the study comprised of 21,290 married public senior secondary school teachers Rivers State. A sample size of 400 was drawn through stratified random sampling method. The instruments for data collection were researcher-structured questionnaire titled: “Marital Adjustment Questionnaire (MAQ) and Psycho-social Variable Scale (PSVS). The instrument was evaluated by three (3) experts in Measurement and Evaluation from the Department of Educational Psychology Guidance and Counselling, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rivers State. The reliability coefficient for the questionnaire was determined using Cronbach Alpha. The instruments yielded the reliability coefficient of 0.88 and 0.79 respectively. Data gathered was analyzed using Linear Regression. Emotional intelligence psyco- social support and adversity intelligence do not significantly influence marital adjustment of married teachers in Rivers State. It also revealed that emotional intelligence, psycho-social support, and adversity Intelligence significantly predicted marital adjustment among married persons in Rivers State. Based on the findings recommendations were made
