This study investigated principals’ utilization of health committee and motivational technique as predictors of managerial effectiveness in pubic secondary schools in Anambra State. Two research questions guided the study and two null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Correlational research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised all the 265 principals in public secondary schools in Anambra State. All the 265 principals were used for the study due to relatively manageable size of the population. Three sets of instruments titled ‘‘Principals’ Utilization of Health Committee Questionnaire (PUHCQ)’’, ‘‘Motivational Technique Questionnaire (MTQ)’’ and ‘‘Managerial Effectiveness Scale (MES)’’ were used for data collection. The instruments were face validated by three experts comprising two lecturers from the Department of Educational Management and Policy, and the other a specialist in Measurement and Evaluation in the Department of Educational Foundations, all from the Faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. The internal consistencies of the instruments were ascertained using Cronbach Alpha which yielded reliability coefficients of 0.79, 0.82 and 0.80 for PUHCQ, MTQ and MES. The researchers together with three research assistants collected data for the study and 98% return rate was recorded. Data analysis was done using simple regression to answer the research questions and test the hypotheses. The findings of the study revealed among others that principals’ utilization of health committee is a strong predictor of managerial effectiveness in pubic secondary schools in Anambra State. It also found that principals’ utilization of motivational technique is a significant predictor of managerial effectiveness in pubic secondary schools in Anambra State. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that Post Primary School Service Commission should intensify efforts of supervising schools to monitor and enforce the implementation of health committee to improve managerial effectiveness.
