This study examines the financial autonomy recently granted the thirty six(36) state legislatures and the judiciary via the executive order NO 10 2020 signed into law by President Mohammadu Buhari in order to address the problem of lack of funds hampering the effective performance of their functions, with a view to enhancing good governance in Nigeria . However, the overbearing influence of the executive arm of government on the finances of these two organs of governments has adversely affected good governance in Nigeria. Some of the objectives of the study are; to examine the role of the legislature and judiciary in relation to good governance and to identify the benefits of judicial and legislative financial autonomy in relation to good governance. The study adopts secondary source of data. The accepted theory for this study is system theory.The study reveals among other things that the judiciary and legislative arm of government suffer financial stricture in the hands of the executive governors at the state level, which has made the heads of these organs to go cap in hand, begging for funds to carry out their statutory functions. The study recommended among other things, that the executive order 10 2020 should be implemented without further delay. The civil society should rise to the occasion by joining forces with the Judiciary Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) to compel the thirty six(36) state governors to implement the executive order 10 2020.
