Sickle cell disorder (SCD) remains a significant global health challenge, with prevention recognized as the most effective strategy in the absence of a definitive cure. SCD, the most common inherited hemoglobin disorder in children, arises from the inheritance of abnormal hemoglobin genes from both parents (Willard et al., 2023). Its clinical course varies, often presenting severe manifestations that necessitate frequent hospital visits, posing challenges not only to low-income families but also to affluent households. Caregivers of children with SCD experience substantial physical, emotional, and financial stress due to the constant demands of care, frequent hospitalizations, and associated uncertainties. The burden of caregiving extends beyond individual families, becoming a broader social concern because of the high prevalence of the disorder, resource utilization, and psychosocial implications (Ajeh & Isaac, 2024; Obimakinde et al., 2020). Addressing these challenges through targeted health education interventions and supportive policies is critical for alleviating the burden on caregivers and improving quality of life for affected children.
