Housing encompasses the physical structure and environment that provide shelter, human comfort, and promote overall wellbeing, while also supporting residents’ psychosocial equilibrium (Mohammed, Desyansah, AlZubaidi & Yusuf, 2020). Public housing policies often prioritize cost-efficiency and developers’ preferences, yet there is a growing need to align housing design with the needs and expectations of occupants (Williams-Bruinders, 2019). Residents’ experiences are shaped by how they interact with their living spaces, influencing satisfaction and perception of the housing environment (Azevedo, Scavarda, Caiado & Fuss, 2021). Evaluating residents’ satisfaction remains challenging as it involves understanding who interacts with the housing, when, how, and to what extent. This study investigates the effect of basic amenities provision on residents’ satisfaction and their willingness to reside in public housing estates in Lafia, Nasarawa State, providing insights for policy improvement and user-centered housing design.
