INTERACTIONAL JUSTICE AND COMMITMENT AMONG PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN BAYELSA STATE

Abstract
This study examined the link between interactional justice and employees ' commitment to duties among public secondary school teachers in Bayelsa State. The survey design was adopted fort the study and relevant data were generated via a structured questionnaire that was sent out to selected teachers in public secondary school in Bayelsa State, The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to test the reliability of the instrument while the Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient was adopted to analysis the data. The findings revealed that employees who have received fair informational and interpersonal interactions in terms of respect, truthfulness, justification and propriety are committed to duties. Again, among all the components of interactional justice, respect was found to be the most important predictor of employee commitment. It was therefore concluded that interactional justice relates significantly with employee commitment. It was recommended that Proprietors and administrators of public secondary schools interact with their staff in manners that shows respect, truthfulness, justification and propriety as all of these will foster better employee commitment
