Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a widespread and multifaceted chronic disease with significant global health, economic, and social impacts. Among its most serious complications are diabetic foot conditions, which substantially contribute to patient morbidity, mortality, and healthcare expenditures. If not promptly and effectively managed, these complications may progress to infection, ulceration, and ultimately lower limb amputation, severely impairing patients’ quality of life. This paper emphasizes the critical role of early detection, regular foot examinations, patient education, and strict glycemic control in preventing diabetic foot complications. A multidisciplinary approach involving nurses, physicians, podiatrists, and health educators is essential to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care. Current evidence supports preventive measures such as appropriate footwear and structured educational programs, which have proven effective in reducing the incidence of foot ulcers and amputations. Prioritizing early intervention and fostering collaborative care frameworks can significantly lessen the burden of diabetic foot disease and enhance overall patient outcomes.
