Abstract

The study examined the effect of human resource management practices (HRMP) on job performance among academic staff of Private University in Nigeria with reference to Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State in Southwest, Nigeria. The specific objective was targeted towards assessing the effect of recruitment and selection, employee participation, and job movement on job performance. The population for the study was 1165 regular academic staff of Babcock University in Ogun State, in Southwest, Nigeria as indicated in human resource management department 2021. Stratified random sampling technique was used. Multiple regression analysis was adopted to test the hypothesis using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 26.0. The result showed that human resource management practices had significant effect on job performance through job movement (β = 0.245, t = 2.840, p < 0.05). The study concluded that job movement had significant effect on job performance, making employees versatile with attendant effect on performance. Based on these results, it is recommended that job movement should be practiced and policy formulation on human resource management practices should be promoted by the management of Babcock University to boost employee performance
