This study examined emotional intelligence as a predictor of burnout among bank workers. The study examined how emotional intelligence can predict burnout, to assess the difference between male and female employees level of burnout and to access the differences in the level of burnout among workers of different banks. The design adopted for the study is a descriptive survey. It made use of 100 participants (62 males and 38 females). Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and Emotional Intelligence Scale (EIS) were used as instruments. Six hypotheses were formulated and tested with the use of T-test, Analysis of Variance [ANOVA] and Least Significant Difference [LSD Post Hoc]. The result revealed that emotional intelligence does not significantly predict burnout. It also that emotional intelligence significantly predicts emotional exhaustion. The result also revealed that there is a significant difference in the level of burnout among workers of different banks. The implications the study are that banks and other organizations should direct effort towards increasing emotional intelligence and decreasing burnout among their employees. Also, banks and other organizations should provide necessary and good working conditions in order to assist in their employees’ well-being, that is preventing them from becoming emotionally exhausted which involve lack of energy towards work, oversaturation, emotional indifferences and less excitement in starting a new job
