Abstract

This study investigated the impact of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems on organizational profitability, specifically focusing on selected radio stations in Ondo State, Nigeria. The research addressed the problem that despite the recognized potential of CRM, many radio stations in the region have not fully embraced these technologies, potentially missing opportunities to enhance customer retention, satisfaction, and profitability. The study aimed to determine the extent to which customer retention metrics, customer satisfaction, and customer engagement affect organizational profitability. Using a cross-sectional survey design, data was collected from 296 respondents (staff and customers/listeners) through structured questionnaires. Descriptive statistics revealed high perceptions of customer retention efforts and satisfaction levels, with moderate interaction in customer engagement, while organizational profitability showed modest performance. Correlation analysis indicated strong positive relationships between customer retention metrics and customer satisfaction (r = 0.612, p < 0.01), and between customer retention and organizational profitability (r = 0.502, p < 0.01). Multiple regression analysis further confirmed that customer retention (B = 0.115, p < 0.001), customer satisfaction (B = 0.088, p < 0.002), and customer engagement (B = 0.061, p < 0.041) all had a positive and statistically significant effect on organizational profitability. Customer retention emerged as the strongest predictor. The findings underscore the crucial role of CRM dimensions in enhancing the profitability of radio stations, suggesting that prioritizing long-term customer relationships, ensuring high listener satisfaction, and actively engaging with the audience are fundamental drivers of sustainable organizational success.
