Abstract
This paper examines the use of internet for investigative journalism and Security surveillance of ungoverned spaces in Nigeria that has become a hideout for unknown gunmen. The paper sees internet as a veritable tool in the hand of investigative Journalists to unravel concealed information and the identity of militias, in order to promote orderliness in society. The work was anchored on three theories of mass communication. They are technological determinism, the social responsibility and Uses and gratification theories. Journalists and media personals in the armed forces are encouraged to use internet to improve the art of investigative journalism and as a tool to tackle the present insecurity in Nigeria.
