Abstract

This paper aims at showing the relationship that exist between information risk management strategy and social sustainability in Rivers State-owned tertiary institutions in Nigeria. A survey research design was used for the study. A total of 393 copies of a questionnaire was administered out of which 329 were found usable, amounting to 83.7%. Statistical tools were employed for data analysis using Statistical Package for Social Sciences. The study found that respondents' assessment of social sustainability is moderate. Respondents rated information risk management strategy as having a very high influence. The study also revealed that there is a relationship between information risk management strategy and social sustainability. Based on the findings, the researchers recommend that issues of information security and risk should be taken more seriously in tertiary institution and that social sustainability issues should be investigate, to ensure the long-term future of Rivers State-owned tertiary institutions.
