Abstract

The study investigated the strategies for solving problems of unqualified biology teachers in secondary schools in Enugu East Local Government Area.  Three purposes of the study and three research questions were formulated. A survey research design was used. The population of the study consisted of 24 biology teachers in the ten (10) Secondary schools in Enugu East Local Government Area. There was no sampling. Questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection. Three Experts validated the instrument. Cronbach Alpha was used to determine the reliability of the instrument and a reliability co-efficient index value of r=0.75 was obtained. The mean statistic was used to answer the research questions. The findings of the study revealed that in order to solve the problems of unqualified biology teachers in secondary schools, there should be proper training and retraining biology teachers, that recruitment of teachers should be based on experience and adequate educational qualifications.
