Abstract

A lot of questions are being raised about today’s Christian youths, their involvement in syncretic practices, and how it affects their philosophical and psychological approach to life. The general view is that some Nigerian Christian youths lack Biblical evaluation of what they do. They do things as they please themselves. This situation prompted the author of this article to think deeply, contemplate unceasingly and ponder heartily on the future consequences of what the present situation entails. The author believes that what the Christian youths do today has a great influence on how their tomorrow is going to be. Having worked with the youths as their chaplain for ten years, the author vividly believes that a large percentage of the Nigerian Christian youths have not understood the Bible well thus leading their syncretic lives as a normal norm. This syncretic lifestyle brings about all sorts of challenges that are difficult to help the youth grow into adults with proper philosophical and psychological understanding of things. This article, therefore, wish to handle the topic, “Biblical evaluation of philosophical and psychological effects of syncretic practices among some Nigerian Christian youths”. Its objectives are: To state the philosophical and psychological effects of syncretic practices on the youths; To clarify reasons why some Nigerian Christian youths practice syncretism; and To find out the Bible evaluation of syncretic practices.
